Q: Why would a family of Californians be interested in moving to a different part of the county?
A: The short answer is that we have each come to the independent conclusion that God is calling us to a new ministry as a family. The kids are fully on board with the change, and as a family we have prayed that God would lead us to the right church. We all want to be right where God wants us, and if it is the right church for me, we believe it will be the right place for Sue and the kids.
Q:. How do your kids feel about moving away from their friends?
A: Both Alex and Grace have had a good friend move far away, yet stayed connected through email, text messaging, instant messaging, web cameras---and even the telephone. I know that High Schoolers talk to each other at school, but it seems as though they communicate more electronically than anything else! They are confident that the long-lasting friendships they have made here will withstand distance and time zones.
Q: Sue, how do you see yourself in Dan's ministry?
A: I see my role of Pastor's Wife as a helper, meant to complement Dan's ministry---not interfere, interject or intervene---but to stand by, support and sustain Dan in every way I am able. I am completely committed to Dan's ministry and calling. As a teenager, I sensed God calling me to "full-time ministry", not even sure what that might mean. He soon clearly gave me a deep love for the local church body and various ministries of my own all along the way. My first ministry is to Dan and the kids, but beyond that, God has most recently given me a heart for wives in ministry, partly in the way of "Pastors' Wives Thriving in the Fishbowl" www.PastorsWives.org
